Norway Round-up

Welcome to the MKMW Norway Round-up!

Our first dish is Norwegian Salmon Chowder, chosen by Chaya at her My Sweet and Savory blog, it looks delicious and just perfect for spring.

Chaya is so sweet to share with us two Norwegian recipes this month, the second, pictured above, is Lemon Pasta with Norwegian Salmon -- from Chaya's Comfy Cook blog, yum!

~~~
Glennis at Can't Believe We Ate made a scrumptious Scandinavian Open-Face Bay Shrimp Sandwich that would be a perfect summer dish, it looks great!
~~~

Over at Nummy Kitchen I made some Norwegian Waffles topped with Gjetost, an imported Norwegian goat cheese -- what a fun breakfast.

~~~
That concludes our Norwegian round-up -- but there is one extra dish to share, Sweet-and-Sour Onion Salad, this was picked by Kayte at Grandma's Kitchen Table to try for our February destination, Italy, as an antipasti dish, doesn't it look yummy?
Thanks for sharing, everyone! I look forward to seeing what you guys come up with for our April destination -- Egypt.
Have a great weekend,
Andrea
Italy Round-up and March Destination...
Hello friends, welcome to the MKMW Italy round-up! We have seven delicious entries this month so sit back, relax, and enjoy these Italian dishes...
First up is CJW at Unchained Kitchen with a hearty and flavor packed winter time meal of Greens & Cannellini Stew, it looks so welcoming and I love the use of seasonal ingredients.
~~~

Next we have Janet at the taste space with two Italian meals to share, first is a beautiful Italian Stew with Winter Squash and Chickpeas, what beautiful colors!

Also from Janet, How Not to Eat Out in New York City (An Eatalian Meal), a wonderful look into her trip to NYC and lots of information should you be planning a visit to The Big Apple any time soon and want some great Italian eats without eating at restaurants all the time.

~~~
Please welcome new traveler Glennis from Can't Believe We Ate (hi, Glennis!), she brings a beautiful yet uncomplicated pasta dish called Angel Hair with Eggs, Leeks and Cream, it looks delicious!
~~~

Peggy from Pantry Revisited was lucky enough to visit Italy last summer and that left her wanting to cook real Italian food at home, her Spaghetti with Bolognese Sauce certainly fits the bill. Looks like the perfect Italian dinner to me!
~~~
Next up is Joanna at In Search of Lost Time with Italian Wedding Soup and quite a few other Italian dishes pictured on her site, apparently it has been Italian cooking month at her house, sounds like so much fun! Love the new ravioli press :)
~~~

And last but not least, over at Nummy Kitchen I made a dish of Spinach and Ricotta Conchiglie / Stuffed Shells which was a fun dish to prepare and nice to try a more traditional Italian take on stuffed shells.

~~~
Thank you so much to our MKMW Italy participants, it was great to see the dishes you came up with and I am inspired by your creations.
We have had a few destination suggestions and I figured we'd just go with them in order of suggestion, if that's okay with everyone. First up we have Norway, so we shall travel back to Scandinavia for our March destination. Egypt is our next suggestion, so plan on a culinary trip there for April. I received an e-mail suggestion for Greece, so pack your kitchen suitcase (is there such a thing? I don't know, go with it :) ) for a trip to Greece in May.
Happy travels,
Andrea
Denmark Round-up / February Destination -- Italy
Time for our Denmark Round-up, not too many travelers this month, but a very nice selection of traditional Danish dishes...
First up we have CJW at Unchained Kitchen with two Smorrebrod, aka Danish open-faced sandwiches, one with Beef and Watercress and also a Roasted Vegetable version, will have to try the later sandwich soon, sounds delicious!
~~~

Next up is Janet at the taste space with a traditional breakfast treat -- Danish Blueberry-Filled Pancakes (Ebelskivers), they look just perfect dusted with powdered sugar, yum!

~~~
Our third traveler this month is Kayte at Grandma's Kitchen Table who somehow managed three delicious Danish dishes -- Danish Blue Cheese Salad , Sweet-Sour Cucumber Salad, and Rodgrad med Flode (Red Fruit Pudding with Cream) for dessert, everything looks so pretty and tasty, way to hustle, Kayte :)
~~~

Over at Nummy Kitchen I also tried my hand at a few different Danish recipes -- Danish Dumplings, Christmas Red Cabbage, Glazed Mushrooms, and Caramelized Carrots and was very pleased with the resulting dinner that my whole family enjoyed.

~~~
Thank you to everyone who cooked along this month! For February, Janet at the taste space has suggested Italy as our destination, what a perfect pick for a romantic Valentine's Day dinner or just a nudge to try that finicky Italian recipe you've had book-marked forever. Please post your Italian recipe on your blog with a link back to My Kitchen My World, and leave a comment here on this post by February 28th with a link to your recipe so I can include it in the round-up.
If anyone has a country suggestion for March, please let me know via comment or e-mail.
Can't wait to see what Italian dishes everyone comes up with! If you are new here and would like to cook along just jump right in with Italy and leave a comment after you post.
Take care,
Andrea
Germany Round-up / January Destination Denmark
Welcome to the Germany Round-up for MKMW! Our December destination was Germany and what a wonderful selection of German foods we have to share...
First up we have a beautiful Log Cake from Torview Toronto, who also shares a cute candy cane craft we'll have to remember for next year!
~~~

Next up we have a wonderful breakfast treat, German Coffee Cake from Chaya at My Sweet and Savory, her husband loved this delicious looking cake!

~~~
Here is a beautiful German Cherry and Almond Strudel (Kirschstrudel) from Janet at the taste space. Another yummy breakfast or dessert treat.
~~~

Margaret at Tea and Scones has outdone herself again with a complete German meal of Rotwurst, SpƤtzle, Brotchen and a beautiful holiday Stollen.

~~~
CJW at Unchained Kitchen made a fun German dish of Pretzel Roll Bratwurst Sliders to conquer a craving, yum!
~~~

Joanna at In Search of Lost Time made New Year's Eve Sauerkraut, to ring in the New Year, an old family tradition, what fun! I love family traditions.

~~~
Over at our house, I made a German Puff Pancake for the very first time (haven't posted it on my blog yet) and the kids and I loved it. We especially had fun peeking through the oven window watching the pancake jump as it puffed up and baked in our cast iron skillet.
~~~

Thank you to everyone who participated with our December destination Germany! I know it was a busy time and tough to get things done. Sorry this round-up is so late!

Time to get back on track for the New Year, right? Our January destination is Denmark as suggested by Janet at The Taste Space, thank you Janet!

Please make a Danish recipe and post it to your blog with a link back to My Kitchen My World, then leave a comment here with a link to your post for the round-up. Please post and comment by January 31st for a round-up on February 1st.

Also if you have any destination suggestions please post that in a comment as well, we need someplace fun to visit for February :)

Take care,

Andrea

I will be working on the December -- Germany round-up over the next few days and get that posted ASAP. I know it was a difficult time for lots of people to keep up with over the holidays and am so glad we still had some participants.

Our January destination will be Denmark, suggest by Janet at the taste space, thanks for a great suggestion Janet! I don't think MKMW has ever visited Denmark so that should be a fun one. You can leave a comment in this post with a link to your Danish dish or in the comments on the Germany round-up which should be posted in a few days :)

Happy New Year,

Andrea
