USA Round-up and August Destination

Hello MKMW friends! Welcome to the USA Round-up, so nice to see new faces and old friends on this culinary journey...

Our first dish comes from a new friend, two new friends actually, the duo of Carla and Michael at Recipe Addict, they made Hoppin' John, a traditional dish of the southern states. It looks great, guys! Welcome to My Kitchen My World :)
~~~
Next on our culinary tour of the United States we have long time MKMW traveler Joanna at In Search of Lost Time, she made Kielbasa, Corn, and Shrimp Chowder. Chowders are very popular soups along America's northeastern coastal states, doesn't this soup look so creamy and comforting?
~~~

Looks like we can count on new traveler Chaya at Chaya's Comfy Cook Blog to bring dessert! She made these amazing looking Flourless Brownies, yum :) Welcome, Chaya!

~~~
Jill at Jill's Blog is back for a second trip with MKMW, this time bringing Peanut Butter Cookies -- an all American classic that she made even more memorable with the addition of one of America's favorite candies, M&Ms, don't those cookies look delicious?
~~~

Welcome to our 3rd new traveler this month, Torview Toronto, who made a delicious looking bread pudding with cinnamon and raisins -- that also can be served as breakfast or a snack, sounds great.
~~~
Our 4th new traveler this month is Lexi at Big Momma and Me, welcome to the group! She made one my family's favorite American treats, banana bread, it looks so good with the melting butter, wish I had some bananas to use up right now :)
~~~

Next up we have a hearty main dish, Perfect Pot Roast, which my husband would be drooling over since that's one of his favorite dinners! This delicious dish was made by our 5th new traveler this month (I think that's a record!), Peggy at Pantry Revisited. I know Peggy from TWD and am so glad she has decided to cook along with us at MKMW. Welcome to the group, Peggy :)

~~~
Margaret at Tea and Scones went with Native American cuisine and made a delicious meal ofCorn Chowder, Fried Squash Bread, Fry Bread, and TWO desserts -- Cheyenne Berry Pudding and a Chippawa fried cake wow Margaret, what an amazing feast! Everything looks wonderful.
~~~

Leslie at Lethally Delicious made an amazing salad with grilled salmon, and fresh vegetables all native foods to the USA. What a beautiful meal.

~~~
Kayte at Grandma's Kitchen Table made a tempting wild rice dish with mushrooms, caramelized onions, and dried cranberries, she likes to serve this at Thanksgiving, which I'm sure it is a perfect side :)
~~~

Thank you to everyone who participated with MKMW -- USA! What a great variety of dishes from all across the USA and spanning different time periods. If I've missed anyone it is totally unintentional, please let me know and I will add you to the round-up asap :)

And now for the moment you've all been waiting for...our August destination...

Canada!

There were two suggestions for Canada in last month's comments, so Canada it is! MKMW has never visited Canada so this should be lots of fun. There are many regional dishes and Canadian recipes available online, I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with. Please post your Canadian dishes in your blog and leave a link to your post in the comment section of this post by August 31st.

Any MKMW member with a country suggestion for the month of September is welcome to e-mail me or leave their country suggestion in a comment on this post. Where would you like to visit next?

Take care,

Great round up, Andrea! It will be a lot of fun to "visit" Canada this month.

I think the group has already been to Morocco but the cuisine has always fascinated me.

Thanks Leslie!

Morocco sounds like a great destination. Last time MKMW "went" there was in Oct. 2008, so it's definetly time for a return trip :)

This was so much fun! I'm so excited to be in this group. Thanks Andrea for all your hard work.
I think Morocco would be a lot of fun. I don't know where all you have visited already, but I'm game for anything.
